Fallout is... well... complete bankruptcy and complete loss of pill market... or you could say the riches of top family amount to those of beggars. Death will wait 2-3 short events more. taking royal family as his lapdogs, getting one piece of vital equipment that is relevant to quite a bit of next story (at least it will be as relevant as his sword for some time, but level will only go to some degree where sword is transcendence weapon and is still OP even now in novel at 5200 chapters) and opening of Chendi pavilion. After that, the Dawei war starts and it will be far larger scale than fighting Lengs. It was a good move from writer to avoid boringly deal with each opposition family separately and thus be repetitive

Serve the Leng Family right for being greedy. They will not be able solve it. Only QC and Pill Pavilion will be able to help those cultivators that received the pills drawbacks.

I'm surprised they didn't "warn" the Leng family first, then laugh as they passed it off as some means to trick them into not selling it anymore. THEN they can also say that they warned the Leng family to mend their mistakes and were ignored.
